Radiographs (X-rays) are extremely helpful for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. X-rays are useful in examining your pet’s bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas of the body. An X-ray can spot a fractured bone, detect tumors, help with the diagnosis of heartworm disease or locate an obstruction or foreign body in your pet’s intestine or stomach. When used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures like ultrasound, X-rays can accurately diagnose problems, making treatment faster and easier for your pet and your veterinarian.
Deer Park Animal Hospital follows Orthopedic Foundation for Animals recommendations and uses modern digital X-ray equipment, which creates excellent diagnostic-quality radiographs. Digital X-rays provide clear, crisp images that can be manipulated by your veterinarian to improve the view. They are also much easier to take than traditional X-rays, leading to less stress for your pet.
We perform many specialty procedures, including GI series and urinary bladder contrast studies. These special procedures are necessary for identifying difficult or chronic problems. Our services also include consultations with a board-certified radiologist. These second opinions can be received quickly because digital images can be easily shared between offices.
We also offer X-rays on a disc for our clients to take home and keep for their own records at no charge.
